Overview
Mr T. K. A. Nair is a distinguished Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1963 Punjab cadre who served in several top government positions, including Chief Secretary of Punjab and Secretary in the Government of India. He became a key figure in the Prime Minister’s Office, first serving under I. K. Gujral and A. B. Vajpayee, and later playing his most prominent role as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2011, after which he was Adviser to the Prime Minister until 2014, holding the rank of Minister of State. Renowned as one of India’s most influential bureaucrats of his era , he also chaired the Public Enterprises Selection Board and contributed extensively to public policy, education, and social initiatives after retirement. His international recognition includes Japan’s prestigious Order of the Rising Sun for strengthening Indo-Japan relations.
